Vegan Dance Shoes: What Changes and What Doesn't

Vegan dance shoes raise one big question: is it the same shoe? Here, the answer is a happy yes.

Vegan is a material choice, not a different product. The construction and the options are identical. Here is what changes when you tick that option, and what stays exactly the same.

What stays the same

The shoe. Every model we make is available in vegan leather, and the vegan version is built exactly like the leather one: the same last, the same construction, the same hands making it.

The options too. Sizes 34 to 48, narrow, standard or wide fit, heels from 2 cm to 6.5 cm, and the same choice of colours. The full menu is yours.

And the fit process is identical: you order, we ask for your foot length in centimetres, and we check it before anything is cut.

What actually changes

The upper material. Instead of animal leather, the shoe is made in a vegan alternative, including vegan suede finishes on some models, which give the soft matte look of suede without the animal origin.

There are honest differences too, and knowing them is part of choosing well. Vegan leather does not breathe the way real leather does, and the material behaves a little differently on the foot. Over long use, or with a good knock, its colour can also shift a little more readily than real leather. None of this changes how the shoe dances; it is simply the character of the material.

The sole is a separate decision, and this is worth knowing: our neolite and rubber plastic soles are synthetic. If you want the shoe to be fully animal-free, choose one of those rather than the leather sole, and mention it when you order so we can build the whole shoe accordingly.

Do vegan shoes dance differently?

The floor never touches the upper. How a shoe dances is decided by the sole, the heel and the fit, and those are the same choices on a vegan pair as on a leather one. A vegan shoe with a neolite sole dances like a leather shoe with a neolite sole.

Where you may notice a difference is in how the upper wears in. Leather moulds to the foot over time in a way that is particular to leather. Vegan uppers behave differently, which is one more reason the measurement matters: a shoe cut to your actual foot does not need months of breaking in to fit.

Who chooses vegan

Vegans, obviously. But also dancers who simply prefer the finish, and people buying a colour that happens to look best in the vegan material. It is an option, not a statement. Take it for whichever reason is yours.
